 2023 Preview 


       South Choctaw Academy completed the 2022 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class A region two, the Rebels earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. South Choctaw Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Southern Academy by a score of 21-14.

       Since 2010, South Choctaw Academy has gone a combined 69-79. Their 46.6% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, South Choctaw Academy has managed to compile a record of 145-135. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class A and 18th in the AISA.




       The Rebels will be under the direction of new head football coach Joe Nettles as they enter the 2023 season.   His 253 wins rank 1st among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach Nettles' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty times and won three region championships. Coach Nettles won two state championships prior to arriving at South Choctaw Academy, the last coming in 1980 at Patrician Academy.

      

       The Rebels open the 2023 season at home against region opponent Snook Christian on Friday, September 1 at Jackson Memorial Stadium. Last year the Snook Christian Eagles finished with an overall record of 1-10 and in fourth place in Class A region two. The Eagles lost in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Lowndes Academy by a score of 68-12.

       South Choctaw Academy and Snook Christian have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 4-0-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2022 with South Choctaw Academy winning by a score of 47-16.

       South Choctaw Academy lost AISA All-State  receiver Chance Copeland to graduation. He was named to the first team last season.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
